The household is just stirring.... boys not up yet as we got home around 11pm last night from a neighbours [she's Brazilian and they celebrate Christmas Eve and wow can she cook - the lobster soup course was spectacular]. Santa arrived soon after the boys fell asleep. The mayhem will commence soon Merry Christmas one and all.... I hope that you and yours have a good'un

An hour or so of relative peace and quiet before Logan, his mother and his Aunty Emily arrive. They've bought him a scooter which I'm reliably informed will be making an appearance here as well........ Dinner is a large duck once again as we celebrate 25 years of turkey-free existence! A very Merry Christmas to you all!

A very Merry Christmas to all here, and to the people who are out working on the infrastructure too.

Happy Christmas one and all, however you add to the variety, information and mordant humour that makes DD's the wonderful site it is. So here's a totally idiotic seasonal Tube map, from the Torygraph of all places. Not quite up to our standard, but seasonal nonetheless: Steve

Merry Christmas, everyone.
Thanks to all the curious members who have asked interesting questions, all the knowledgeable members who have taken the trouble to answer them, and everyone who has offered ideas and suggestions - sensible or surreal - and kept the many and varied discussions going.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was largely a quiet one, but that is how I like it. I quite liked the Frankenweenie film they showed on BBC 2.

Hope everyone's Christmas was good. Mine was also a quiet one which makes a change. Took some annual leave so I'm in the middle of four weeks off. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from me too. I'm not at liberty to go in to too much detail, but I think that 2016 will be a special year of transformation with much that is good, albeit not appreciated until with hindsight. Simon ps: the singing Robin Redbreast was in Regents Park, on the last Tuesday of 2015.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all have a good 2016! spsmiler - your lack of detail is infuriating! One reason why I've not said anything is a concern that I will be going off topic for a forum about London's Underground and other railways. On the other hand, since this specific thread is about the new year so maybe some 'new year predictions' will be on topic and acceptable? So, jumping straight in and hoping for the best: Scientists reveal information about the seas which causes a certain amount of consternation. I am thinking specifically about sea level rises and not about the radiation situation in the Pacific Ocean caused by Fukushima in Japan, for which it is already too late to avoid the most horrible ecological disaster many times worse than Chernobyl. Financial woes of many kinds which in many ways will be seen as bad but will sort of 'clear the air' and afterwards (over time) create space and conditions for better times. Depending on how our politicians react it would not surprise me if the £700m funding shortfall that the Govt. promised for TfL arrives earlier than scheduled. These financial woes will include stock market crashes, derivative / bond markets unravelling, consequential bank bail-ins and more. Such as partially described here: ellenbrown.com/2015/12/29/a-crisis-worse-than-isis-bail-ins-begin/ Changes in human awareness / consciousness / thinking start becoming mainstream. This has been ongoing for a while, involving an ever growing numbers of people over the past few decades but should really start to accelerate this year, 2016. Whether it reaches the mainstream news remains to be seen, as what is happening poses a threat to the existing planetary (political) power structure and one of their attempts to stifle this will be by ridiculing and belittling those who talk about it. The use of new off-grid energy technologies slowly accelerates, especially in third world nations. Whilst we already have the Freevolt technology here in the UK (this harvests small amounts of domestic wi-fi energy as a source of power for hand held devices) these new devices will eventually be powerful enough to replace mains electricity and gas. Plus power Underground trains too! Remote parts of third world nations will use these technologies first because they do not have power supply infrastructure companies which will suffer financial loss if suddenly abandoned. There is a specific event which I cannot share that someone with mil intel contacts said is possible - it will be seen as a 'wildcard' if it comes to pass. Simon
