Coming in from Heathrow this morning, as we were passing Northfields there was some stock, that didnt look like the normal Piccadilly stuff. Windows seemed to be different, and there were 3/4? cars. these were situated at the West end of the depot and on the lines nearest to the running lines. I quite possible mistook them for normal stuff,It was a very quick glance, but could anybody put me out of my misery if they were some sort of departmental stock.
Thsanks

Probably one of the 1995 stock off the Northern line. One transferred over last Thursday night.

1995 stock would be six cars - I don't think there is any reason to split it whilst it's at Northfields. Unless someone knows that it was miles away at the time, my guess would be the TRT.

Would the 1995 stock create any problems with the signalling system?

It was the Track Recording Train that you saw stabled at the location you mentioned.

Would the 1995 stock create any problems with the signalling system? We have to be a bit wary of the 95 stock. When they're transferred over from the Northern line, a three station gap must be maintained between them and any other trains. That's why the transfers are done after the last trains have gone. Someone did send me a lengthy document explaining why (way over my head), but the gist of it is that the '95 stock might interfere with the signalling on the Piccadilly line.

The signalling on the Northern Line prior to TBTC is what the Piccadilly Line has now so don't see that as a problem. Only thing I can think of is the traction package of the Northern Line trains may interfere with Delta rail circuits but I'm sure the Northern still had this pre TBTC

Down St/ Hyde Park Corner was the main location as regards to the delta's.

I saw a 1995 stock at Northfields Depot yesterday afternoon. What is it doing there? I thought all maintainance happened at Golders Green or Morden (with recent refurb at Morden?). Why the Northfields visit, and is this a one off?

Why the Northfields visit, and is this a one off? A number of 95 stocks have been rotating to northfields in the past few months to make use of the test track at South Ealing for what I believe to be brake testing.

Does that mean we may be having a performance upgrade on the 95's?

Does that mean we may be having a performance upgrade on the 95's? I have no idea although I would hazard a guess that there might have been issues which warranted the need to test the brakes. It might be due to the planned(or implemented?) increase to 100kph running
