I know for sure it was not the MPU that was the issue.

Can you advised which cars were already modified for the work?

They were done a while back now at TMU. I am sure I have posted the car numbers on here before. Otherwise I shall have to check my notebook at work.
EDIT: Actually, I think I may have posted the car numbers for the prototype Bakerloo cars

So a mix of 67 and 72mk1 motors then ex Victoria line stock. I guess is they will be scrapped unless another use is found for them.

I think they will find a new use once completed.

Does the tunnel at Ryde require cleaning? XF

The problem with the last train and probably this is to maintain a very slow speed whilst cleaning.
The tunnels are rarely level for any distance.

Does the tunnel at Ryde require cleaning? XF Nah. I think they just give it a quick rinse every decade or so.

Am I right in thinking that the origional T/C train had hydraulic drive whilst actually in operation to allow very slow speed without heating problems in electric drive?

Yes that sounds familiar.
New the tunnel cleaning train has been dropped could the cars be used as pilot cars?

The cars are power cars. They are multiple power units designed just for pulling with a control panel fitted to control the vacuum part of the train. I believe its all 67TS cars that have been used.

Not sure how true it is, but I remember hearing it sucked too much.

So, if the old TCT is no longer in use, does that mean there is a build-up of dust going on?

Tunnels are being cleaned by guys with backpack vacuum cleaners. Whatever happened to the 'fluffers' you'd se in those old B&W documentaries?

I guess the "guys with backpack vacuum cleaners" don't like to be called fluffers any more Isn't there (or wasn't there) a temporary TCT consisting of something on wagons pulled by battery locos? Press reports last autumn suggested the TCT project was delayed at least until 2017 pending removal of asbestos (or some other solution) which might otherwise be disturbed by the new, and presumably more powerful, TCT.
