At approx 11.15 on above date I noticed the legend 'Next Edgware Road train in 10 mins' displayed at the bottom of the indicator. I didn't have a camera with me unfortunately.
What might have caused this to be so? The only thing I can think of may be that there was an engineer's train in the queue from somewhere west of the station that was due to head for Lillie Bridge (or may be Neasden via Baker Street) crossing over to the DR east of the station, but it would be good to have this theory confirmed or denied please.
Sorry for the late report - I've been offline from then until today.

The indicators at Hammersmith District and Pic station eastbound are notorious for being approximately useless.
It would not surprise me in the least if they claimed there was a train to Edinburgh Waverly within 1 minute.

They were doing it on Friday too - I managed to get a photo.
It sounds like the train describer has lost a code from Acton.

Was it a S stock running around ? They usually put odd TD's up so they know the train is different from the norm

This morning about 7am at Earls Court I saw and Edgware Road bound S-Stock in platform 1, which means it must have come via Hammersmith, no? Maybe there's a connection there somewhere!?

Thanks for your responses - I've often wondered what triggers the 'next xxx train in yy mins' messages. Is that feed additional the 'normal' TD stream? (Note for Mods - if this now drifts into the technical side please feel free to move any follow up to the appropriate 'Board' - thanks!).

Hammersmith is / was a one off site never rely on next train to xxxx mins its a guide only as on the e/b local it states next train in 1min but that is triggered from Turham Green

(Note for Mods - if this now drifts into the technical side please feel free to move any follow up to the appropriate 'Board' - thanks!). I have noticed two discrete types. Some appear to be manual messages which just 'cycle' e.g. during the peaks at Archway NB there is always one saying "NEXT MILL HILL TRAIN WITHIN 15 MINUTES" irrespective of what is indicated. However I have seen elsewhere "NEXT MILL HILL TRAIN IN x MINUTES" in situations where that train isn't indicated - presumably this is live!

The Northern line I presume is like the Central in where the signs can show manual messages in which they are controlled from the control room
