The Motive Power Units, one 72TS DM and one 67TS DM car with the compressors and MAs re-located into the saloon, are being converted in Acton Works. One unit is essentially complete and is outside in the yard, with the other unit being worked on inside.
The cleaning bit is on hold pending further work regarding residual asbestos in the tunnels (removal or encapsulation).
Regards,
Dan

Why have the MAs and compressors been rehoused? Have they been made a bit larger for their new duties? I'd imagine they'd try to feed all the electrics at least from the driving cars, allowing maximum space for vacuum equipment.

On the 1967/72 stock the compressors and MAs are on the trailers. This is due to the new equipment then being introduced onto the 67ts DM which did not leave room for the MAs hence why they were placed in the trailers.
I imagine as you suggest, there will be little room in/on the Vac cars to house this sort of gear.
Another thought is that will self contained equipment on board (in the saloon) the cars can be used without the Vac set and could be used as a pair of pilot motors although this sort of work is usually done by battery locos these days.

I believe the controls for the vacuum set will be housed in one of the MPU's.

No doubt one of the old guard will be along to tell us how back in the day it actually was :X
Ive heard of a 'snow'man being built by railmen out of disgarded asbestos lagging around one christmas many decades ago! I do hope thats aprocryphal!

I into town today and visited Ian Allan bookshop had a look at the book but won't be parting with any money as I don't think it is very good. I could see nothing about signalling and in the title it states operating.

Agreed - it's just another history of the Underground. It should have had better proof-reading as well. There are quite a few errors and typos, as well as a paragraph of gobbledegook.

I saw that Haynes book and nothing compares to Jay Sherman's catchphrase to that:
It stinks!
