When I went on the Vic line last week, I noticed something what i forgot to bring up to you guys. On train 11003/11004 in car 12003/13003, (sorry cant remember which), the LED, door open light, the one on the outside of the car, was missing, it looks like it has been ripped off somehow, and a large plastic thing what looked like a top hat has been bolted into its place. It does not light up in any way and looks terrible. It looks like it has been smashed into the side of the train. It's on the right hand side of the train. To my knowledge, the train operator needed this so that he or she could see what carriage was affected if they could not get a pilot light. But on this unit, you cannot see on the trains opo cameras what carriage is affected, because this thing does not light up. Could any of you tell me what on earth this is. It's looks ridiculous, and surly for a train of the 2009 stock, this should not be happening already.

The train op can see which carriage has the problem by looking at the on board diagnostic system. However, I don't know why the light has broken.

Presumably a temporary 'patch' until the correct part is available.

How odd. Was there any other damage surrounding the light? You said it had been ripped off but is there a possibility it could have been removed by an engineer and is waiting to go back on? Maybe the train wash got a bit too vigorous As a new member, what specifically interests you about the Victoria line?

Maybe the train wash got a bit too vigorous As a new member, what specifically interests you about the Victoria line? It is indeed, It looks really ugly and not very aerodynamic at all. You have a streamlined train and then this thing hanging off the side. Yeah haha the train wash got a bit angry with the tube so it ended off pulling the light off haha ;D To be honest nothing really, It's the only line I get off and I've got about a million things in my head I keep noticing with it. Every time a use it something has changed. My favourite line though is the met, I like the 09's but you can't beat the old A stocks

You could have met a few of the Forum Members! If you don't know about forum meets they generally have a bit of Underground then some social time and a light libation. The next is probably the Acton open day in Spring, it'd be great to see you there.

And ahh that's a shame, but to be honest mate, you probably had a much nicer ride than if you was on the last one. I can't tell you how busy it was, and it was so hot, at euston I was actually going to get of and get on an 09 what was following because it was like a sauna!! And yes indeed I am planing on going to acton actually so I could well indeed see you there!

Update guys! I was quite suprised to board this unit again today Finsbury park. I was standing up and luckily we were being held at a Red signal at Euston, so I managed to poke my head out and get a good look at this thing. Right so, it's not as I first thought, in actual fact is is not covering the LED light, it's infant, between the double door and the single leaf door to the right of the LED light. It has been made out the same material as them black security cameras,(the ones where you don't know where there looking). I had a good look and there appears to all sorts of wiring inside it including a couple of small red led lights. It actually looks like something out of a sci fi film! It's actually really strange. Does this give any clue to you guys? Would it be some sort of tracking device of some sort? Or is is measuring or timing something? Any ideas? Remember this was the first unit in, so would Bombardier have fitted it for something?

Sounds to me like it could perhaps be what you suggest it looks like, a camera. Perhaps installed in an attempt to get to the bottom of the problem with the sensitive edges?

i used to work on the victoria line and i remember seeing this thing as well if were talking about the same thing is it a black square box mounted at the same height as the Outside door indicators (orange lights) i thought this was actually a wifi router that pics up wifi signals on the platforms to enable wifi in that carriage i heard rumours (dont know if its true or not) that they were carrying out test to see if they could get WIFI signals in the tunnels seen as you can get them on stations now
i presumed it was something to do with this i may be wrong but dont know
