We have had reports of problems with the images used on the forum - specifically the buttons across the top of the page failing to load or taking an excessively long time to load.
I am unable to replicate the issue in any browser and I'd now like to know if any other member has experienced any problems.....

Just had it now (Chrome on Mac OS X) - only half the images loaded and I had to refresh twice before they all came up

Hi Colin, Yes: some images and avatars not loading for me though I've not noticed it before. It's not consistent though and I haven't been able to replicate it myself. Screenshots here and hereMac 10.7.3, Google Chrome Incidentally I've been meaning to say that on and off for months, about three or four times a week clicking onto DD brings a 'Page not Found' error for several minutes before the site loads again. Don't know if anyone else ever finds that.

Hi Colin, Yes: some images and avatars not loading for me though I've not noticed it before. Screenshots here and hereYou've misunderstood what we're referring too!! We are investigating a potential technical issue with images associated with the functions & look of the forum. The screen shots you show are in relation to individual users and their own image providers. I have no problems viewing any of them though!! Incidentally I've been meaning to say that on and off for months, about three or four times a week clicking onto DD brings a 'Page not Found' error for several minutes before the site loads again. Don't know if anyone else ever finds that. That will be a Proboards issue (our software provider). They have recently gone from weekly backups to daily backups - now they do these in the middle of the night, in their native America.......I wouldn't be too surprised if their back up times clash with our busier times. They're also doing server work in preparation for the long promised version 5 software update - that may or may not have something to do with it too As you may have guessed by now though, this isn't related to the subject of this thread either!!

I am one with the issues - but it only started after I had to clear the browser caches. All was fine up till then, but now there are problems both with images (main banner and buttons at top) on here AND accessing the main site: won't load at all.
If you haven't emptied your cache recently you probably won't have the image issues..........

I can't see how clearing your browser cache would cause the problem with the main site not loading... although I suppose it depends on what you mean by "not loading"...
What browser / OS?

I can't see how clearing your browser cache would cause the problem with the main site not loading... although I suppose it depends on what you mean by "not loading"... Normally images etc. from sites load from the cache - they only need to access the site if those images have been removed in one way or another. Like by having to empty the cache. "Not loading" means getting the message 'waiting for.......' until the page times out ("connection was reset"/ priblem loading page). windows XP and it happens with FF, IE8, Opera AND chrome........my usual is FF. Fine for me on my antidiluvian PC (IE and Windows XP - yes really) and also on my Android phone. Even more bizarre here (except to an expert perhaps). If on my Android (Opera Mobile 11.5) I use the wifi to the home router I get all the same problems - BUT if I use the O2 data connection all works perfectly including the image buttons here AND the main site, almost instantaneously. And the final piece of the puzzle is that my son's laptop does exactly the same thing here at home but is fine elsewhere. And the IP provider (Entanet) have done a tracert from the site to here and nothing takes longer than 38ms. Any computer "holmes"'s like to make a case (preferably a solution) out of that lot?? Worth noting that the images here, and the main site itself, are hosted in the same place.

The obvious first thought is that there is a problem between your home router and the website: if your son's laptop works fine elsewhere, as does your mobile phone. I'd start by suggesting: Start -> Run -> type 'cmd' follow what's in my quote (if you can) and paste the output here... Could also try: tracert www.images.districtdave.co.ukand paste the output here... What router do you have?

Oops, sorry, you need to exist nslookup first - easiest way is to close the command prompt and bring it up again before doing the tracert

In a somewhat bizarre solution to the problem, I finally, more in hope than expectation, swapped the router for another one absolutely identical apart from the serial number (it had previously been used as a repeater until the system was changed some months ago). And the problem disappeared.
I guess one of our computer boffins will be along to explain at some stage, but also the download speeds have increased by 10% simultaneously.
