On the WB/OR Dist/Circle: "The train approaching is to Circle line via High Street Kensington. Please stand back from the platform edge." Whatever happened to grammar? On the NB Jubilee line: " The train approaching is to Stanmore. Please stand back from the platform edge." Stand back!? Why, is the platform edge screen and doors system a bit wobbly?

Sounds like the standard off-the-shelf Tube Lines system has been installed, with no one taking the time to actually think about what they are doing. Sadly so typical of today's target-driven London Underground.

To Circle Line via High Street Kensington? Maybe the system was installed back in the circular age. What I do know is that it also appears improperly here traintimes.org.uk/map/tube/ (same goes for the Ham & City) EDIT: now District trains to Upminster also appear as Hammersmith & Friggin' Circle.

On the NB Jubilee line: " The train approaching is to Stanmore. Please stand back from the platform edge." Stand back!? Why, is the platform edge screen and doors system a bit wobbly? Which station was this at? Last time I was on the JLE they didn't have any automated platform announcements so this must be relatively new. I think North End is right - whoever installed it didn't put in any thought what so ever. Perhaps they could chop off the "please stand back from the platform edge?"

I'm pretty sure it's been there for a long time. The phrases seem the same on the Dist/Circle and Jubilee line platforms so i assume all part of the same system and recordings library. They are often overriden by platform staff making manual PA announcements instead.

I heard on the new met trains, asking for passengers not to give money to the beggers or pay them any interest First time I've heard that before!

Wasn't that also a pre-refurb announcement on the 73TS?

Waterloo on the Jubilee is now making these automatic announcements - failry recent development, and yes it does say stand back from the platform edge - they missed the word 'door' from the end of that! I think the earlier comment of a generic standard system being put in has happened.

I think the earlier comment of a generic standard system being put in has happened. The generic system was probably done because it's cheap, and there's only 8 stations with them...

Are the Jubilee line announcements still playing twice?

Are the Jubilee line announcements still playing twice? On the trains? Not sure. Double announcements are useful, to annoy the rubbish out of the people who refuse to listen to them...
