I recently upgraded my phone to an android, and as soon as I used it to log in here via Opera Mobile, I was offered the 'proboards app' for androids. Those who've followed the iPhone app saga on here know it's something and nothing if you have a decent browser, but I thought I'd check this one out. Boy-oh-boy I'm glad I did - - they want you to PAY for it!!!!! Only a couple of quid I know - but to have to fork out for something you can do with less clicks if you have your browser set up properly on the phone really is beyond the pale..... Who the hell do they think is going to fall for that one? OTOH if you look at my new sig........ But it's still a ****** cheek - I just wonder who the money goes to; Android market or Proboards .

Shouldn't this be in rant.....
Anyway, Proboards have never made a secret of the fact it's a paid for app - it has been so since it was launched on 20th June.

Considering that this board is provided free of charge (and that advertising does not pay a lot) - I'd say the price is fair. Out of price - 30% goes to Google, 70% to ProBoards.

Shouldn't this be in rant..... No- the primary purpose is a member alert . I wouldn't know, only just having gone to android, but to pay for something that you can do better and quicker and for free * without the app does seem counter-intuitive . *What I mean is 2 clicks total - I have Opera Mobile on my phone home screen: one touch takes me to OM speed dial page (on which is DD forum of course), the second takes me here to the home page already logged in. Unbeatable.

Shouldn't this be in rant..... Fight fight fight! ;D I thought about the Proboards Android ap', then decided that the 'internet' button works just as well. I'm not so sure about Opera, I think I'll leave that sort of thing to @londonstuff

To be honest, I waited for I don't know how long for the app to be released for Blackberry as I thought the browser wouldn't work with proboards, only to discover that I've been putting the wrong password in all the time, and after all that, the Blackberry browser is one of the quickest I've seen, and wallopingly* quick when linked by wi-fi.

Have I invented a new word? Nope, MRFS used it several years ago. Sorry! ..er.. unaccustomed as I am to coining neologisms, in what circumstance did I use 'wallopingly' - was it when a certain 'important person' undercooked the air and all the couplings ended up squashed downwards?
