Has anyone noticed the incredibly foul gas like smell on the Piccadilly around South Kensington? Seems to begin about halfway from Knightsbridge, and clears almost as soon as you leave SK.
Its vile, whats the cause, and is it being investigated?

Yeah, good shout - that seems to coincide with where the smell is first noticable (going WESTbound anyway).
Edit: getting my easts and wests mixed up!

Can't say I've noticed it personally, or heard anyone else mentioning it either. I'll try to remember to pay attention tonight, but I'm on dead lates and am a bit of a zombie as a result. *g*

I find it worse between South Ken and Gloucester Road (platforms included).

I find it worse between South Ken and Gloucester Road (platforms included). Yes, it certainly seems to travel. It seems a touch fainter just now, but still noticable when i went through at around 22:45 last night.

I have noticed this smell for the past 3 months. It's always really strong on the Westbound. Have been wondering for ages - nobody else had noticed it but it bothers me every time!

There used to be a terrible stench at Hatton Cross but it seems to have been fixed.

..... and at Waterloo (Bakerloo Line especially), and there were even posters out there apologising for the "smell". It was a few years ago but I can't pin a date on it - and time is deceiving .....

The Waterloo smell was very noticeable when I began commuting there in 2006. There was quite recently another pong on platform 3 at Baker Street by the steps down to the Baker/Jubbly concourse.

Havent been down the Charing Cross branch for a while, but I recall a terrible sewage smell between Euston and Warren St on the Southbound. Was present for quite a while.

The one by the stairs on platform 3 at Baker Street is actually a birds nest that has been there a very long time. The smell is years worth of pigeon rubbish.

About a year ago, didn't an engineering train returning to Ruislip Depot from Cockfosters derail close to where this foul smell has been reported?

Does anyone actually have any idea what is causing these smells? Sewage? Bird brown stuff? Underground burial grounds? Something to do with the geology?

Perhaps it's the smell of the filthy rich in Knightsbridge?
