Does anyone know when the DVA on the Piccadilly Line will be updated to reflect the closure of Heathrow Terminal 1? This happened a year ago but the announcements still refer to "terminating at Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5". It seems the DVA on the 73 stock hasnt been updated for years, as it still mentions "Earls Court Exhibition Centre" at Earls Court, and makes no mention of the Circle Line at Hammersmith, so at least since 2009. Pretty sure it hasnt been changed since it was introduced in 2006

All the signs at heathroww station still says terminal one as do all the dot matrix train describers so would confuse passangers if took terminal one off the announcer

I recently noticed that on the bus, there is another woman announcing on the iBus alongside Emma. She announces the 'this bus terminates here' announcements. Can anyone shed some light on who she could be?

I don't know if it's the same person, but the "The next bust stop is closed, please alight here or wait for the stop after" sounds very different to Emma.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, I'd just like to point out that the announcements on the new Class 345 are voiced by Emma Hignett

Quick Update: Emma is back on the iBus 'this bus terminates here' announcements. I haven't heard the other women since.

Very glitchy and jittery, and don't flow well at all If you want to hear 'poorly done, try Yellow Buses in Bournemouth. The lady has particular difficulty with two syllable words. She says 'Christ Church' instead of 'Christchurch' and 'Lans Down' instead of 'Lansdown' with emphasis on the second syllable instead of the first.

TfL have started a month long trial on the iBus. There is now a new announcement "please hold on, the bus is about to move". So far, the timing of these announcements have been slightly off, but TfL have said that they will now link it with the doors, instead of the destination.
Personally, I find this announcement v. annoying, as the bus (well, the ones I get on at least) is usually halfway to the next bus already anyway.
EDIT: It seems that TfL have (kind of) fixed the announcements now. I'm pretty sure that they have now linked it to the front door. At least, the announcement played after the front doors closed on the two buses I have been on.
UPDATE: The wording has been changed, Emma now says "Please hold on while the bus is moving." The annunciation is absolutely awful IMO.

I counted and I heard it 26 times yesterday morning, and on exactly none of those occasions did the bus start moving right after the announcement - almost every single time it was already moving or had moved and stopped again (traffic lights or junctions) - in one case it was stationary for very nearly 2 minutes after the message. In one case someone was still manoeuvring a buggy onto the bus (the doors were still open) and in another an infirm person was halfway down the aisle and the driver waited until they were firmly seated before moving off. At the start of the evening rush hour the message played while there was still half a dozen people waiting to board the bus at Canary Wharf, all of whom got on before the bus moved. Sometimes it runs into the next message "Please hold on the bus is about to move Crews Street" (where to?)
I've made an official complaint to TfL about it, I expect they're inundated as I've yet to hear any driver or passenger say anything positive about it.
Even if it were linked to the doors (front or back?), I don't see how it will help as that still doesn't necessarily correlate with when the bus will move due to people still making their way to seats, traffic, driver changes, etc. and unless it reliably indicates very nearly every time when the bus is about to move then it will just be yet another cry of wolf. The only injury I've seen on a bus that happened when it was pulling away came to somebody who was holding on but lost their balance on the stairs when the driver pulled away very sharply.

Even if it were linked to the doors (front or back?), I understand it is linked to the doors. There is a ten second delay after the doors open before the destination is announced, and after a further ten seconds the "hold very tight please" announcement comes on. Apparently the average dwell time at a stop is twenty seconds. (I assume that's a mean - reports suggest the median is somewhat shorter, but then who's average? (The vast majority of the population have more than the average number of eyes)

This has been a very provocative (can't think of a better word at present) trial. The idea came from drivers who have attended the two-day "Hello London" course. TfL are determined (at the moment) to continue to the end of the four week period and then review the results - hopefully a drop in "slips, trips and falls" on buses. The items I've published on our Intranet have resulted in more comments than any other in the 18 months that the Intranet has been available. All have been passed on to TfL - actually a single individual who is very busy at the moment!

Folks, I reference you to the comments from myself and rincew1nd in the Wanstead announcements thread...Folks let's stick to the announcements at Wanstead please - happy for a discussion on the new announcements to be made in the appropriate sub-forum. But we don't have a bus sub-forum! Probably for the best! As we don't have a bus sub-forum it's best that this topic is left to those fora that do...

That is 'VERA' -- she voiced the Bakerloo line before Emma Clarke. --- I know there has been discussion on this forum before regarding Celia Drummond and how her original recordings on the 1995 stock sound completely different to those on the 1996 stock, and indeed some of the newer ones on the '95s. I found out recently she used to be in a 1970's band called Tree. On thiswebpage she is interviewed and one of the questions is about how her voice has changed over time: " How do you feel your voice has gone over time? Naturally with age I’ve lost the purity of the higher range, but have more in the lower range now. Apart from singing with you, I’m really rather out of practice!" Perhaps this explains things!
