This has just popped into my inbox from LTM Friends. I was lucky enough to go down a few years ago on a small tour group - it's definitely well worth it. Aldwych open again for visitors ____________________________________________________ Friends who were disappointed not to get the chance to visit Aldwych station last year, can get the opportunity now. The Museum has secured the long weekends of Friday 25th - Sunday 27th November, and 2nd - 4th December for tours down to the old platforms. Sadly, as access is down the old spiral emergency stairs the tour is not suitable for anyone with a mobility problem. Nor are under 16s permitted. Last year's events were so popular that they sold out in two days, but this time there are 420 tickets available on each day. Nevertheless, Friends are advised to check the Museum's website regularly for the booking details to appear. Museum events (Aldwych not yet mentioned)

I casually asked Mrs SE13 if I could go back down on consecutive weekends, and I got that stare - Think it probably means no, and to be fair, I'm not prepared to challenge the decision....

Although it's not on the website yet - the booking page is live, and tickets are a slightly eye-watering £20 for a 40 minute tour.
They'll still sell out though - so I can't really blame them for setting the prices at that level.

Anybody know if both platforms will be part of the visit?

For those who have never visited Aldwych, let me say from someone who used to help conduct the visits. It's well worth the time and effort. I know I am preaching to the converted but do go if you get the chance.

I'm stewarding at platform level on both of the Saturdays. If I'm lucky the powers that be might even let me out for lunch.

Bookings are now being taken. The £20 ticket price also includes free admission to the LT Museum for a day. I've now booked but can't see anywhere on their website about the free admission to the LT Museum

It's in the ticket information section on the main page.
"Admission: Adult; £20.00* Concessions; £15.00 (students, seniors and London Transport Museum season ticket holders) *This price includes a free one day pass to London Transport Museum which must be used by Sunday 4 December 2011."

I'm booked in for the 25th at 3.30. Really excited! £15 seems a little steep but it's cool nonetheless.

Based on what the museum have told me, both platforms will be included in the tour. Normal warnings about this being unofficial and subject to change at any time apply.
I'm a museum (technically Friends, but the difference is largely administrative) volunteer, and the museum asked me help with the guided tours. If you're interested in helping out in future, PM me for the contact details of the person at the museum who does the organisation.
Time to learn the many pages of history on the various leaflets that they've sent me.

All them years ago when I used to wander around the Aldwych platform at Holborn after attending to the overnight Aldwych 3 car stabler and occasionally walked up the disused tunnel towards Aldwych, I never took a camera with me. Damn and blast
